Who said you can't celebrate St Patrick's Day when you're on Whole 30? You'll surely feel 'lucky' this St Patrick's Day with this Whole 30 compliant mint chocolate smoothie! It is filling and loaded with healthy fats and greens. It is refreshing with a satisfying mint chocolate flavor and the best part is that it's guilt-free!

This was one of my go-to smoothies when I was on Whole30! This choc mint smoothie is a play on the traditional shamrock shake but made better for you! It's known as my healthy AF shamrock shake because it's not sweetened with anything but the natural sugars in the banana. It's packed with healthy fats from the avocado, greens from the spinach, and is dairy-free using almond milk! If you prefer your smoothie a little sweeter, you can add honey but just be sure not to omit the cocoa powder or peppermint extract!

Ingredients
Here's everything you'll need to make this healthy mint chocolate smoothie:
- Avocado: Healthy fat that will give the smoothie a thick texture to mimic a shake, while also giving it a green hue naturally.
- Frozen banana: I'd recommend freezing a very ripe banana. The frozen banana will give the smoothie natural sweetness and a creamy texture.
- Spinach: Gives the smoothie a more naturally potent green color while adding fiber and vitamins.
- Almond milk: Almond milk is used to keep this whole 30 but feel free to substitute with any other dairy-free milk that is whole 30 compliant.
- Cocoa powder: I used unsweetened 100% cocoa powder to add that chocolate flavor without any sugar.
- Peppermint extract: The mint flavor to the mint chocolate! Add less if you're not a huge mint lover.
Substitutions & Variations
- Milk: To keep it whole 30, substitute with a different dairy-free milk or if not on whole 30, regular milk works.
- Banana: This is where all of the natural sweetness comes from but if bananas are not an option, frozen dates can add sweetness also. Note: I have not tried this with frozen dates, but if you do, please leave a comment and let me know how it was!
Storage Suggestions
Since this smoothie contains avocado, it will oxidize a bit. I would not recommend prepping this smoothie in advance and only making it right before enjoying!
